Salam merdeka,

Isu "forum memeluk islam" masih mendapat liputan utama semua media tempatan. Semalam, "kahbar angin" mengenai YB PKR ditahan dibawah ISA tersebar luas.

“As a society comprising different races, Malaysians have displayed the spirit of tolerance and respect to the other races.

“If we try to dissect or argue against the basic terms that was agreed upon in the Constitution, then it will surely cause endless arguments which can affect our country’s peace and stability,”

(Jangan cabar kerajaan – Syed Hamid)

(Runding, bukan demonstrasi)

It is regrettable that some members of political parties such as PAS, PKR and Umno were involved in the almost violent demonstration," said Dr Koh, who pointed out the involvement of and strong words uttered by PAS Youth chief Datuk Salahuddin Ayub and Kulim-Bandar Baru MP Zulkifli Noordin or PKR.

"We should be aware of sensitivities about religions by all respective believers. Therefore, all politicians must take a rational and reasonable approach to look at how to fine-tune the relevant laws and procedures to avoid or minimise potential inter-religious controversies and conflicts,"
(Koh: Resolve religious conversion issues soon)

The police yielding to pressure to disrupt the half-day Bar Council forum on conversion to Islam at 10 am in Kuala Lumpur today is a most adverse reflection on law and order as well as religious harmony in Malaysia on the eve of the 51st Merdeka anniversary.

Malaysia has failed a major test in nation-building to demonstrate that we are shaping up to be a more civil society where sensitive issues of inter-faith problems can be discussed in a mature and responsible manner to promote national unity and religious harmony in the country.
(YB lim Kit siang)

MIC Youth had taken a stand on this issue. The National Youth Coordinator, Mr. T.Mohan had issued a strong press statement against such unruly and unlawful disruption against a peaceful and open discussion. No one is questioning Islam. Bar Council merely organized the forum to enable scholars, lawyers and members of public to air their views and give their opinions. Surely we can discuss issues in a civilized and educated manner without having hooligans disrupting our forum.
(Acts of Hooliganism- Mr Murugesan, PEMUDA MIC)

Kenapa Bar council menganjurkan forum ini ?

We reiterate that our concern is to address the issues of conflicts of laws facing families caught between the separate jurisdictions of civil and Syariah laws.

The Bar Council is not questioning the provisions of Article 121(1A), which confer Syariah jurisdiction over Muslims on the Syariah Courts. The coexistence of two separate legal jurisdictions is not a new or uncommon phenomenon and there are naturally issues of conflicts of laws arising from the different jurisdictions.

We recognise and respect Article 121(1A); however, there is a strong viewpoint that it is unjust to compel anyone to be subjected to laws and courts that are based on a religion that they do not profess, and this viewpoint must be addressed.
(Press Statement: Meaningful debate needed to find just and amicable solutions)

Rakyat mendahagakan PERPADUAN!!!

Any educated Malaysian can see that the Bar Council was doing good by organising the discussion among intellectuals. They deserve respect and appreciation for their courage and dedication!

On the other hand, UMNO, PAS and PKR have brought disgrace to Muslims everywhere!

Dude, I know u are being tolerant and all, but ask your self, the indian community has been so for last 50 yrs. What has it gotten in return? If you don't fight for your rights now, your children will be working as garbage collectors when they grow up, seriously dude.

Hi bro,

There is a song in tamil "nadenne seithathu unakku endra kelviyai ketpathai viduthu, nee enna seithai athatku endru kettal nanmai namakku".

I have done nothing for the nation yet and the community to expect anything in return.

And i choose not run away from the land who promissed opportunity to our grandfathers 80 years ago...

anyway good luck bro... my best wishes
