Greetings,

51 years after merdeka, we are still haunted by strong racial sentiments?

Ref to the unacceptable remarks from Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail, Chinese are pendatang, so they don't deserve equal rights. And this person, defended his statement " i am just quoting it from our history".

History? For god's sake , the history of "malaysia merdeka" scribed with the courage, blood, sweat and tears of Malays, Chinese, Indians and other races. One must be real dumb or retarded to deny that fact!!!

The effort for independence was spearheaded by Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, who led a delegation of ministers and political leaders of Malaya in negotiations with the British in London for Merdeka, or independence along with the first president of the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA) Tun Dato Sir Tan Cheng Lock and fifth President of Malaysian Indian Congress Tun V.T. Sambanthan.

NOW In the name of God the Compassionate, the Merciful, I TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN PUTRA ibni AL-MARHUM SULTAN ABDUL HAMID HALIMSHAH, PRIME MINISTER OF THE PERSEKUTUAN TANAH MELAYU, with the concurrence and approval of Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Malay States do hereby proclaim and declare on behalf of the people of the Persekutuan Tanah Melayu that as from the thirty first day of August, nineteen hundred and fifty seven, the Persekutuan Tanah Melayu comprising the States of Johore, Pahang, Negri Semblian, Selangor, Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan, Trengganu, Perak, Malacca and Penang is and with God's blessing shall be for ever a sovereign democratic and independent State founded upon the principles of liberty and justice and ever seeking the welfare and happiness of its people and the maintenance of a just peace among all nations.

Prime Minister

Kuala Lumpur, 31st. Day of August 1957

Our deputy prime minister, apologized....... because this incident occurred in his presence. And Prime Minister @ Chairman of BN made his point clear that the statement above is and individual remark, and it should not be considered as the stand of BN or UMNO.

Non-Malays in this country are Umno’s partners whose rights and interests will be safeguarded, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.

He said Umno has never regarded the Chinese in this country as “pendatang” (immigrants), and as the main pillar in Barisan Nasional, Umno’s policy is clear that the party accepts non-Malays as partners in nation-building .

Najib said it is also clear that the Barisan policy would focus on nation-building and any views given by other leaders at division level are their personal views.

So, anyone who is too 'smart' to deny this fact, should bare the consequences alone. The one should not hide behind any political parties or leaders. And He should not be 'protected' by the name of Barisan Nasional!!!

PM to Ahmad Ismail: Explain, or face action

Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail’s fate will be decided Tuesday after a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“He will be asked to explain himself, after which we will decide what action will be taken against him,” Abdullah said.

“I’m very unhappy with what has happened and will take a firm stand on the issue,” he told reporters after meeting ambassadors and foreign dignitaries at Wisma Putra on Monday.

When briefed on a meeting earlier Monday in which Ahmad had asked Gerakan to leave the Barisan Nasional coalition, Abdullah said, “Ahmad should not blame other parties; it’s not for him to ask a component party to leave Barisan.”

It's realpolitik innit? By 2012 BN may well have got its house in order and PAS and DAP may well have split. The iron is hot & it is time to act-what does democracy have to do with it? Absolutely nothing!

I share your views on Anwar (having personally witnessed his evil tricks in Sabah in 1994) and I can't stand party hopping, but I may just give a change in govt via frogs jumping a wry smile. What goes around, comes around anyway.

Actually Mr Goh the 'Babi balik China' was uttered by someone else in the crowd and not the Kulim MP. I was there.

I agree the Kulim MP's behaviour was unwarranted but dont create things he did not say. The BN fellow said it in live television now for all to hear.

I think race is too engraved in Malaysians it will take many generations before we can clearly say we are Malaysians first.

The first step is to remove the whole my race versus your race administration in this country.
