I read with interest a malaysiakini news article about ""MB: Kuota baru rumah tidak nafi hak kaum lain"
Its about Kedah Government’s move to increase bumiputra quota in housing schemes from 30% to 50% . Because , they say Malays could not buy houses or shop lots in private housing schemes.
Property developers in Kedah say they may have to close shop if the state government does not revoke its new policy of having a 50% bumiputra quota in housing schemes.Housing Developers Association of Malaysia (Rehda) Kedah/Perlis chairman Ricque Liew said the state government should stick to the national policy where the bumiputra quota was fixed at 30%.
He said even some Malays did not want to buy bumiputra lots as they could not make much of a profit when they sold them later on.
“The value of bumiputra units do not appreciate much. Buyers often have problems reselling them as they must sell to bumiputra buyers only.
“Such a policy will only restrict the Malays from making a profit at market value,” Liew said in response to the government’s move to increase the bumiputra quota in housing schemes from 30% to 50%,
Well, the explanation of Rehda's chairman sounds more acceptable. Perhaps, The state government should carry out a survey to find out why Malays could not buy houses or shop lots in private housing schemes before jumping into their own conclusion.
Btw, kuota baru tidak nafi hak kaum orang lain??? I don't understand what are they ( state government) trying to tell here.
I wonder why the "silents" from the chiness and indian reps ( kedah excos). YB. ENCIK ARUMUGAM A/L VENGATARAKOO what you got to say about this?
P/s: Kedah MB said : "Keputusan ini juga adalah demi kepentingan orang ramai tapi kalau cakap pasal keuntungan, memang (pemaju) akan rugi. Tapi tak mungkin mereka akan tutup (gulung tikar).
KEPENTINGAN ORANG RAMAI???KALAU PEMAJU RUGI, THEN NO MORE NEW HOUSING PROJECTS IN KEDAH. KALAU TAK ADA RUMAH BARU, 'ORANG RAMAI' YANG DIMAKSUDKAN OLEH YAB NAK BELI APA?
TALK WITH SOME SENSE PLEASE.......

INILAH CONTOH KATA 'HARAP PAGAR, PAGAR MAKAN PADI'
the real prob is, the undervalue of the bumiputera quota houses. that is why malays dont wish to buy them. because we rugi when we sell back because we must sell to malays only.
i dont think in anyway this will help the malays.
PAS is always PAS. this is a live prove of why pakatan rakyat can never be fair to all malaysians.
Kau orang India memang tak reti BAHASA.Bagi betis nak peha..
Cuba compare brapa ramai orang melayu dgn bangsa lain di Kedah??
MB cakap buat bnyak rumah kos rendah kau tak siarkan..
Orang beli rumah untuk kehidupan , bukan invesment BODOH!!!
Pikir dulu sblum tulis ...dasar KELING tak sedar diri...
What? Racial divide again. Don;t we have enough of this? Why can't we be just Malaysian just like Indonesian, Thais, Cambodians etc, etc, etc.
What is the difference between PAS and UMNO then? = Racial Split. Damn it!
If the current policy is left as it is... then the developers will only built high cost houses only... what happen to middle and lower income groups? left without baing able to buy houses.
then do we need housing estates having 90% chinese and another having 90% Malay???
The racist policy of UNMO continues... PAS undertakes to continue the racist policy, Apa dah terjadi?? My understanding of PKR's states is to discontinue the racist policy of UNMO. Now PAS is not only copying the policy but make the policy worst by incresing to 50%. Does the religion allows the practice of selling higher to others??
What the fuck are indians bising for. R u the developers in Kedah? how many keling developers in Kedah. R developers forced to be developers in Kedah?
U racist DAP and PPP should remember that malys made up 70 % of Kedah population.
So if 30% for Malays where are they going to stay?
and houses are not meant for speculation bodoh!
Mr.Punithan,
They're many like "Keling Bodoh" in Malaysia and Hindraf is still struggling with this kind of "Bodoh Sombong" mentality people.
PRESS STATEMENT YB CHARLES SANTIAGO
Charles Santiago : Kedah MB should be a Leader of All Malaysians
Date : 11 Oct 2008
The announcement by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak to increase the Bumiputera quota for housing is in complete contradiction with the efforts by the opposition alliance to shun race-based policies.
His suggestion does not just endorse the New Economic Policy, which only helped line the wallets of those close to the ruling elite, but also plays along the dangerous game of racial politics.
The Bumiputeras currently enjoy a 30% quota and therefore further increment to 50% would deprive other communities from buying houses, especially the poor and lower middle classes.
Azizan’s subtle threat to direct government-linked companies to build the houses, should private developers refuse to do so is shocking as the Menteri Besar should not pump public funds for projects that only favor a particular community.
As part of the Pakatan Rakyat we should work together to create policies that are targeted to help vulnerable communities. Affirmative action should be need-based and not race-based.
Yours sincerely,
CHARLES SANTIAGO
